Newly Developed DHS and SALF join in emergency preparedness efforts

Under Secretary of Emergency Preparedness and Response in the newly developed U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Chairman for the Citizen Corps' Councils, Mike Brown and SALF President/Founder Carol J. Spizzirri signed a partnership agreement on January 23rd, 2003 making SALF the second ever affiliate of President Bush's newly developed U.S. Homeland Security’s Citizen Corps. The initiative of this partnership is to work together to raise public awareness for the threat of natural and man-made disasters and be emergency prepared, starting with our nation’s youth. In conjunction with municipal leaders from across the country and as an affiliate of FEMA and US Homeland Security's Citizen Corps, SALF’s framework intends to encourage each citizen, school, business, etc, within a community to become emergency prepared in order to strengthen America.
