Race For Life

What is the Race For Life?

GOAL: To raise funds and awareness for SALF programs and fund first responder EMS professionals, providing them with the opportunity to teach local school children the importance of being emergency prepared and how to use Life Supporting First Aid skills.
Partners within this initiative will be:\
Citizen Corps, a national affiliate of SALF which is composed entirely of First Responders, and Nextel, who provides communication products and services that are tailored for First Responders.

WHY NASCAR?
SALF and Nextel's relationship with NASCAR provides them with an opportunity to spread their message to the public. NASCAR provides a forum, complete with large, well-attended events, involving one of today's fastest growing, most exciting spectator sports. This gives SALF and Nextel the opportunity to increase awareness in an area where they feel they have the best and most unique products and services (First Responders, Fire EMS, municipalities, government employees).

WHY SALF and NASCAR?
SALF uses only First Responder/ EMS Fire professionals as instructors for schoolchildren nationwide. These individuals provide hands-on instruction, relay real experience and are familiar faces from the local community, serving as a mentor and a role model in the classroom.
Also, unlike some racing series, these local EMS professionals are the track-side first responders in NASCAR, They are the ones who save the lives of drivers like Jeff Gordon at the track on Sunday and then teach the children in local schools to do the same in the classroom on Monday.
