Bipartisan Life Sustaining Values Though frequently on opposite sides of the political spectrum at the state capital, Illinois state lawmakers, including Senator Jimmy DeLeo (D-10th District), Senator Donne Trotter (D-17th District) and Senator Steve Rauschenberger (R-22nd District) agree on one thing and that there is a vital need for citizens, starting with schoolchildren to be emergency prepared.
Since the early 90’s, Senators, DeLeo, Trotter and Rauschenberger erased their partisan views to support SALF’s life saving cause. They championed SALF’s Illinois mandate, requiring all police and firefighters to be trained in basic Life-Supporting First Aid (LSFA) skills, including CPR and Heimlich maneuver and they sponsored a multitude of annual appropriations that allowed local emergency medical providers throughout the state to train over one million schoolchildren, ages K-12th for free in basic LSFA skills.
Because of their consistent dedication towards protecting the health and well being of adults and children during life-threatening emergencies Senators DeLeo, Trotter and Rauschenberger received SALF’s Distinguished Leadership Award. |
