Deputy Chief of Staff of Public Safety Identifies EMS NeedsSeptember 20, 2006![]() The highly respected Illinois Deputy Chief of Staff of Public Safety, Colonel Jill Morgenthaler, identified national EMS needs at the Emergency Management Agency’s 2006 annual conference. The Colonel captured the attention of Carol Spizzirri, Founder and President of the Save A Life Foundation (SALF). Spizzirri relates, “Her views of Pre-EMS and EMS concur with SALF's mission, and we look forward to working with Colonel Morgenthaler in streamlining the emergency response [system] in an effort to save lives be it man-made, natural, and personal emergencies." Spizzirri continues, "She also supports strengthening EMS from the local and state level and a EMT course as a prerequisite for a nursing career." Carrie Viehweg, SALF Illinois State Director was likewise impressed with Colonel Morgenthaler reporting, “EMS will benefit under Colonel Morgenthaler’s direction as never before. She has what it takes to bring forth the long awaited change the industry needs. The Colonel understands the issues and is not intimated by them.” |
