SALF JOINS GREATER O'HARE ASSOCIATIONSubtitleReturn to the Press Release Index Stating that you offer the " best" can be quite a challenge, but for the Save a Life Foundation (SALF) it is more than a challenge, it is their mission. SALF wants everyone to have the B.E.S.T. - Basic Emergency Skills Training in life supporting first aid / CPR in order to reduce deaths and disabling injuries. Carol J. Spizzirri established the foundation in 1992, after the tragic death of her teenage daughter, Christina Jean, in a fatal auto accident. Only God knows, but Christina might have survived if she received immediate life supporting first aid by those first at the accident scene. Carol started the organization hoping her daughter's death could be a positive force in saving other lives. SALF'S mission is to heighten public awareness to the importance of early intervention in medical emergencies; promoting the crucial need for all individuals to be trained in basic life supporting techniques and to provide teaching of these practical skills necessary to perform these interventions. Emergencies can happen to anyone, anywhere and at anytime! SALF provides courses to meet the needs of every bystander. All courses are approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health. SALF instructors are professionals that practice what they teach; paramedics, EMTS, firefighters, police officers and nurses that deal with emergencies on a daily basis. Page 2 Save A Life Foundation The foundation is a not for profit, dependent on grants and the giving spirit of others. Limited funding under governmental agencies and private donations enables the Save A Life for Kids program and the young adults Bystander Basics to be presented for free to students (K-12) in the Illinois public schools. In less than three years, over 350,000 youngsters have been instructed. Adult courses include: 1)Bystander Basics, 2) Bystander Basics Advanced (compliant with OSHA and Daycare Provider guidelines) and 3) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training in conjunction with the other adult courses. Very affordable fees from the adult courses help alleviate some of the tremendous cost involved with this children's program.###
