Indiana Commission on Community Service and VolunteerismSubtitleReturn to the Press Release Index Safety and Disaster Preparedness is Focus of Collaboration On May 24, The Indiana Citizen Corps Council, an initiative of the Indiana Commission on Community Service and Volunteerism signed an affiliation agreement with three organizations whose goals closely resemble the mission of Citizen Corps. The mission of Citizen Corps is to harness the power of every individual through education, training, and volunteer service to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues, and disasters of all kinds. To help accomplish this mission the Indiana Citizen Corps Council has signed Affiliation Statements with the following three organizations. The Save A Life Foundation (www.salf.org) is an organization that is designed to help train and develop "Bystanders", including children, as volunteers equipped with Life Supporting First Aid Skills (LSFA) to aid in an emergency. The Indiana Jaycees (www.injaycees.org) gives young people between the ages of 21 and 39 the tools they need to build the bridges of success for themselves in the area of business development, management skills, individual training, community service, and international connections. Indiana Safety and Health, Inc. (www.indianasafetyandhealth.com) is an organization that provides training in first aid, CPR, bloodborne pathogens and other OSHA compliant classes. The Indiana Citizen Corps Council, with help from these newly formed relationships, will be able to further spread the word about Citizen Corps Councils, safety, health, and disaster preparedness and response to all Hoosiers.
