Awareness and fund raising partnership geared towards helping local EMS professionals provide free training to public school children in: First Aid, CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver.

On Thursday, July 8th, the 2004 Joliet Fan Fest Benefiting Save A Life Foundation will be held on Chicago Street in Joliet City Center From 5pm - 11pm. The event will include a special concert inside the Rialto Theatre sponsored by Bud, simulators, drivers and cars, classic cars, a Kid Zone, entertainment, beer trucks, vendor booths, and lots of great food provided by City Center Restaurateurs.

"Joliet Fan Fest, Benefiting Save A Life Foundation" is a partnership that combines the excitement of NASCAR with the EMS professionals that are SALF instructors giving fans the fun while helping with a great cause that empowers the community, teaches essential skills, supports EMS, and ultimately leads to lives saved.

In the "Race For Life," the local EMS professionals that would save Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the track on Sunday… are SALF instructors teaching the schoolchildren to do the same in the schools on Monday. 

Since 1997 SALF has trained almost 1,000,000 Illinois schoolchildren at no cost.

Save A Life Foundation (SALF) is an affiliate of Citizen Corps at the national level, and they help local EMS professionals teach school children from Kindergarten through High school, the life supporting skills of First Aid CPR and the Heimlich maneuver.

These children, armed with basic skills will be able to help themselves and those around them (classmates, family members and friends) in times of emergency, until professional help arrives.
