SALF's Perry Medic and EMy Tech named "National Mascot's for EMS"

Subtitle

Return to the Press Release Index

Announcements are to take place Thursday and Friday in Joliet. SALF official trademark mascots "Perry Medic" and "EMy Tech" will take on the role of the national mascots for Emergency Medical Service (EMS), to help promote EMS, it's mission, it's programs and the professionals who have made EMS their life saving work.

Just as McGruff "Takes a Bite Out Of Crime", and Smokey Bear let's you know that "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires" …"Perry Medic" and "EMy" will be telling children all across America that they can help "Save A Life!" by learning Basic Life Supporting First Aid skills, like CPR and the Heimlich maneuver in an upcoming national initiative.

Through a mutual agreement between SALF and Stoffel Seal of New York, replicas of SALF's "Perry Medic" and "EMy Tech" will be manufactured, marketed and distributed through their international catalogs to virtually every Fire, Police Department, hospital and Ambulance Company international to help spread the message of EMS to children of all ages.

"Perry Medic" and "EMy Tech" join Stoffel's other mascots: Sparky the Fire Dog (National Fire Protection Association), Smokey The Bear (National Park Service) and McGruff (National Crime Prevention Council through the U.S. Department of Justice).

Reaction from EMS leaders regarding the announcement:

Bob Loftus, Board Member, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians
"As a relatively new instructor with SALF (one year) in Illinois, I am constantly amazed at the professionalism and dedication shown by those in EMS as they lead the charge in teaching basic first aid, CPR, and the Heimlich maneuver to new generations of school age kids around this great nation. With the additional help of Perry Medic and EMy Tech, advocacy for EMS and its practitioners will continue to be spread to the future citizens of our country."

Manny Diaz, Mayor of the City of Miami
"As Save A Life Foundation (SALF) programs begin in the school's of the City of Miami this fall... Having "Perry Medic and EMy Tech" as the official national mascots for our EMS professionals across the country will offer yet another avenue to connect with our young people about the importance of learning these life saving skills"

Margaret Trimble, Pennsylvania EMS Director
"Perry Medic" and "EMy Tech" are great additions to the mascot "team"! This contribution of SALF continues it's support of EMS systems and the great life saving work the EMS practitioners do. The mascots names are a twist on Paramedic and EMT (for anyone not familiar with the terms) will help to introduce and educate the public, especially children about EMS.

Jimmy DeLeo, Illinois State Senator
"This unveiling not only represents those EMS heroes who risk their lives to save others but the importance for every citizen to be prepared with skills should they face an emergency."
