Save A Life Foundation's (SALF) partnered with the Alexian Brothers
Hospital Network, in 2003, Kelly Clancy, Corporate Director of External
Affairs has been the towering factor in achieving SALF's principle goal
of teaching the school children in
"Perry Medic" and "EMy Tech", both SALF mascots, help identify the unique distention of either a Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) of the emergency medical service (EMS). These mascots serve to remind children what they need to do to help someone in an emergency. ABHN's covers a densely populated region that covers Cook and DuPage and a portion of Lake Counties, which Ms. Clancy oversees for the hospital. "Many lives will be affected by Ms. Clancy's dedication, stated Ms. Spizzirri. "Her loyalty can only be measured by the number of children who will embrace their new found life saving skills into their adult years which, in turn, could save thousands of lives". SALF, a non-profit organization of EMS professionals train local children in such skills as the Heimlich maneuver, CPR, bleed control, accessing 9-1-1 and other necessary techniques which would be needed to maintain life of an injured or ill person until advance medical care arrives. SALF roots its base in emergency departments, like ABHN and has trained nearly a million Illinois students since 1997. ABHN's SALF Director Irv Bock, also Mayor of Hanover Park, Illinois expressed his delight of Kelly receiving this Award. ###
