Bystander Basics Advanced

Bystander Basics Advanced - Childcare

This course is designed to be in compliance with the Department of Children and Family Services guidelines, with an emphasis placed on Life Supporting First Aid (LSFA) skills. The course provides the basic skills needed to sustain the life of children, our most precious commodity. The course is 3 hours in length with one hour dedicated to hands-on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and geared to childcare professionals.

Important Facts

Nearly 20,000 children needlessly die each year. A comprehensive childcare provider course, such as Bystander Basics Advanced - Childcare, can slow these trends and reduce the negative impact of “in-the-school” illness and injury emergencies. Course includes:

  • Recognizing emergencies
  • Make informed decision to help
  • Contacting EMS
  • Scene Safety
  • Blood Borne Pathogens
  • Critical Burn Management
  • Bleed Control/Initial Wound Care
  • Early Heart Attack Care
  • C-Spine Control
  • Various problems associated with injuries
  • Prioritizing multiple casualty situations
  • Heimlich Maneuver (Abdominal Thrust), infant, child and adult
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for infant, child and adult
About the Course

In this course you will learn how to sustain a life, prevent further injury and recognize a variety of emergency situations, along with the proper handling of each. Your personal safety is a key component of all SALF courses, as we don't want to see the rescuer become another victim. Surveying a scene for potential hazards and the use of universal precautions will be stressed throughout.
